Abstract
Institutions are increasingly dependent on IT infrastructure and systems to support a significant portion of their academic and administrative activities. Complementing this increased dependence, the risks associated with major or even minor periods of infrastructure unavailability due to disasters or other interventions need to properly managed. This presentation will cover some of the main areas of risk and explore options to address them. In particular, the presentation will provide an overview of the Griffith approach that is focusing on the implementation of a Continuous Operation Architecture leveraging geographically dispersed Data Centres rather than a traditional disaster recovery approach.
