Abstract

First, as a journal, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to anyone who has read an article in this journal and found the language stigmatising, or the data presented in a way that was not fully inclusive or equitable. Research creates challenges with language as there are historical inequities in the systems and languages of learned groups, and progress has often lagged behind socially acceptable standards of language used in other media forums.
