Abstract
A moving documentary spanning three continents and five generations, 'Lili' chronicles the dispersal and attempted reunification of a family displaced following the 1956 uprising in Hungary. This intimacy in scope, however, papers over interstices in culture and history, failing to account for the broader sociopolitical fabric of which familial experiences form part, writes Jessica Friedmann.
