Abstract
Neutropenic fever is a relatively frequent complication of cytotoxic chemotherapy. It carries a significant morbidity and mortality risk for patients, increases the cost of healthcare, and often results in dose reductions or treatment delays ultimately decreasing the benefit of chemotherapy. However, it has been recognised for many years that some patients are at low risk of complications.
