Abstract

To the editor,

Blunt chest wall trauma is often associated with sternal fractures requiring admission to hospital for analgesia [1]. Inadequate analgesia in the context of sternal fractures is a risk factor for pulmonary complications such as pneumonia [1]. In the elderly, mortality related to chest trauma induced pulmonary complications is as high as 38% [1,2].
