Abstract

I recently listened to a speech at a school award's night, in which the Principal acknowledged that the 2020 school year had been unexpectedly different and disrupted. However, rather than outlining what was lost or affected, the Principal directly addressed the graduating students and referred to them as pioneers. They were pioneers not only because they were the first graduating year to complete a substantial portion of their senior year via online learning but also because, despite the many interruptions and disappointments brought on by the COVID‐19 pandemic, they demonstrated outstanding leadership in times of adversity.
