Abstract

Water is difficult environment for communication during swimming. In this paper, a ring of 8 green LEDs was designed and implemented at the transmitter with combined frequency shift keying (FSK) and on-off keying (OOK). The receiver was based on an (integrated detector preamplifier) IDP. The transmitter with the LED ring was worn on the wrist, and the percentage of received optical data was determined for different positions for the swimmer's hand in different swimming styles (Freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly).
