Abstract
The latter half of 2017 saw mixed economic and political fortunes. While unemployment and energy costs were lamentable, other economic indicators rebounded. The Labor, Liberal-National and Pauline Hanson One Nation parties each suffered their own significant crises as Queensland — in the grip of election date speculation and the Premier’s denials of an early poll — inched ever closer to a formal campaign. The result would stun most observers.
