Abstract
Research on tourism and weather has experienced exponential growth, driven by an increasing emphasis on the pervasive impacts of environmental changes. Nevertheless, studies have yet to systematically evaluate the trends and progress in the weather and tourism literature. Consequently, this paper aims to critically examine the complex interrelationships among weather and tourists, destinations, and businesses. Based on a systematic narrative review, this manuscript reveals that studies on tourism and weather predominantly focus on the demand side, emphasising the implications for tourist decision-making, such as destination selection and activity or attraction choice. While recognising weather impact on tourism is apparent in strategic and developmental literature, the response and actionable measures taken by tourism stakeholders towards tourism planning are less well-defined. This manuscript, therefore, proposes an integrative framework that maps the complex interrelationships among weather and tourists, businesses, and destinations. An agenda for future research is also presented.
