This editorial draws your attention to the innovative and pioneering results accomplished by China’s longstanding program on autonomous vehicle testing and the corresponding Intelligent Vehicles Future Challenge (IVFC) project. Testing was performed at China’s Intelligent Vehicle Proving Center in Changshu over the 2009–2020 period; the IVFC project commenced with a presentation of its “Demo” program at the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium 2009 in Xian, China.
