Abstract

We have rationally fabricated an asymmetric structured mesoporous nanotruck by the interfacial-energy-mediated anisotropic growth strategy. This nanotruck possesses distinguished dual domains: (1) spherical SiO2 head with a rough surface as an engine for enhanced nano-bio interactions and (2) a periodic mesoporous organosilica nanorod with high surface area as a trailer for efficient drug loading. The nanotrucks can be further functionalized by embedding functional nanoparticles in the rough heads and exhibit great potentials in biomedicine.
