Abstract
Commensality is an increasingly popular topic among scholars. Yet, its position within tourism and hospitality literature remains unclear to most. This narrative review, based on the works of a doctoral study, offers insights into the space and place commensality takes in relation to other key concepts within the tourism and hospitality body of knowledge. Links are created with meal propriety, presence theory, social capital, and existential authenticity to open doors for future research to consider.
