Abstract
In this paper we illustrate how NMR spectroscopy can provide new insights into the mechanism of action of platinum anticancer drugs, including the detection of intermediates in DNA platination reactions and metabolites in body fluids. The use of modern inverse detection methods and pulsed field gradients in particular now allows work to be carried out on intact biological samples at concentrations of physiological relevance.
