Abstract
Research Background This prose poem was written for and published in special issue 58 of Text Journal, which offers a creative response to the impact of the pandemic, drawing on a substantial body of work in recent creative writing studies which explores the stance of the writer-researcher.
Research Contribution The prose poem captures the fleeting impressions of selfhood as we engage with and confront others and ourselves across an array of digital screen images. Building on my own work within a broad expansion of interest in the prose poem as a form particularly suited to the writer-research, 'Screen/Mirror' speaks to the sense of incompleteness and momentarity of contemporary experience in response to how we live now in response to Covid-19. Research Significance That the poem was selected for publication from a wide field of submissions speaks to the editors recognition of its excellence. The special issue as a whole will also be the subject of discussion and further research engagement at the 2020 AAWP 25th Anniversary Conference, to be held at GUGC 16-18 November.
