Foundry industry is often referred to as "the mother of all industries" as it produces semi-finished products to support other industries. In Taiwan, foundry industry is one of the most important industries for producing and manufacturing foundry products. This paper focuses on business environment associated with Taiwanese foundry industry operating in Mainland China and Taiwan. Telephone surveys and structured interviews are conducted. From the survey results, it is found that Taiwanese foundry companies tackle a multitude of management issues in both Mainland China and Taiwan; practical strategies must be implemented early to alleviate potential management risks and to promote smoother business operations. Recommendations to improve the foundry industry are also given.
