Abstract
Since crime and justice data are a key resource for many criminologists in understanding crime and the operations of the criminal justice system, the chapter introduces the reader to the sources of such data in Australia and New Zealand. Data sources covered include police, criminal court and corrective services records, coroner records, victimisation surveys, emergency admissions, and self-report data. Also discussed are the present gaps in data coverage and future opportunities in the advancement of crime and justice data and analysis.
