Abstract
This article reports on a parent engagement initiative undertaken at River Valley Independent School,¹ a large comprehensive suburban school catering for students and families from Pre- Prep to Year 12. In 2023, River Valley Independent School established a new leadership role, the Parent Connection Coordinator, a position taken up by George Martin. River Valley Independent School was also involved in the EPIC 2023 research project, being led by Dr Linda Willis and Professor Beryl Exley from Griffith University, and financially supported by Independent Schools Queensland, QIS Parents Network, and the Griffith Institute for Educational Research. EPIC is an acronym that stands for Engaging Parents² in Curriculum.
