Abstract

The crystallization process is the final stage of sugar production. The clarified and evaporated sugarcane juice is sent to the crystallizer for white sugar crystal formation. This process takes place in a high pressure vacuum container. The vacuum container is surrounded by a heat exchanger structure which maintains the internal temperature at a predefined value. In the present paper a PSO based control system is designed to control a heat exchanger system and its performance is analyzed for three different objective functions using MATLAB.
