Abstract
Background: The 2018 'Primavera: Young Australian Artists' exhibition was a major showcase of the Blood Money research project. It featured four large major works that were commemoratives of Dundalli, Fanny Cochrane Smith, Bembulwoyan and Fanny Balbuk Yooreel. It promoted these hero's intelligence, perseverance and maneuverability. It did this by illustrating them in large scale water colour in designs mimicking Australian currency banknotes.
Contribution: Significant events of their lives are also detailed in the design of the creative works. The depiction of these people in such a way contributes to new knowledge of Australian history that is easily accessible to the general public.
Evidence: Ryan Presley is the only artist in the last ten years to have been selected for this prestigious show that is a researcher from QCA. Evidence of this is also in the fact that the Museum of Contemporary Art acquired two of these works (Blood Money - Infinite Dollar Note - Bembulwoyan Commemorative & Blood Money - Infinite Dollar Note - Fanny Balbuk Yooreel Commemorative) into their permanent collection. The MCA is one of the most publicly visited contemporary art galleries in the world.
