Abstract

The critical need for a vaccine to prevent infection with malaria parasites is evident from the continuing significant morbidity and mortality (World Health Organisation 2015). A malaria vaccine would be an invaluable and cost-effective tool to add to the current portfolio of malaria control strategies, reducing malaria-attributable clinical disease and death and enabling progression toward the ambitious goal of eradication.
