Abstract
In this chapter, we argue that the knowledge gains in this qualitative study emerged through the ongoing development of the relationship between the research participants and researchers. Conducted in a cross-cultural setting, Bhutan, we reflect on researching gender equity research in a culture different from that of the researchers. In the discussion, we reflect on two specific instances of undertaking gender equity research in the field: our role as researchers in a cross-cultural setting and the field challenges encountered when undertaking a study of diversity in a field. Lessons learned in this chapter contribute to the body of knowledge on cross-cultural research especially undertaking research in a non-Western context.
