Abstract
It is commonly acknowledged that legal translation, especially legal translation between Chinese and English, is difficult. It is a complex and special type of linguistic activity involving mediation and crossover between different languages and cultures, and above all different legal systems. Special skills, knowledge, and experience on the part of the translator are required to produce such translation. This chapter focuses on legal translation between Chinese and English. It explores and highlights some of the sources of difficulty and peculiar challenges in this type of translation activities.
