Abstract
The International Playwork Census (IPC) was undertaken to collect data from both playworkers and other professionals who use a playwork approach in their work. One of the aims of the study was to explore how people who use a playwork approach in their work perceive the benefits and challenges of playwork. The perceived benefits of using a playwork approach were Life Skills (Learning and Development), Exploration (time and space), and Empowering (children and adults). The perceived challenges were Conflicting Agendas, Low Playwork Profile, Funding Issues and Health and Safety. The results from this study can contribute to supporting the development of playwork professional practice, training, and education.
