Abstract
In this chapter, we share a collection of collaborative auto-ethnographies that focuses on self-care strategies which we implement to create a sense of belonging in the academy as female academics. We transcend culture and context as we write as a community of women from around the world and at different stages of our career, all interested in the desire to create a sustained space for women in higher education. We combine our photos to create a montage that further aids our auto-ethnographic reflections. Our photos show moments of peace, joy and quiet in our daily lives. By sharing our personal testimonies as an approach of self-care, we open new spaces for social justice agendas and provide resistance narratives to the extremes of intense stress, burnout, and undervaluing of women in academia. We also promote ways of survival that allow us to prosper and be fulfilled with our academic careers.
