Abstract

The School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University is proud to host the annual Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Creating Futures Summit Series with a spotlight on issues related to the teaching profession. This approach to professional learning is relevant, engaging, and proactive and enables Griffith University to deepen collaborations with our valued partners while setting agendas on key issues. The Creating Futures Summit Series format brings together a wide range of stakeholders with an interest in teaching futures. The expanded role of schooling in the education, care and wellbeing of young people has placed increased demands on the teaching profession. At the heart of the teaching profession is the education of those entering the profession. Initial Teacher Education is core to renewal and regeneration of the teaching profession. Changes to teachers’ work and to the very notion of professionalism have been taken up in Initial Teacher Education policies and programs. Each year the Summit Series focuses on an issue or topic of importance to initial teacher education.
