Abstract

Objectives: 1. To determine the most effective elements of the 5R intervention 2. To explore the efficacy of the practitioner’s delivery of the 5R intervention to refine further practice Design: A qualitative longitudinal design that uses multiple data collection methods to situationally analyse the 5R intervention in situ. Methods: This study will purposively sample a variety of group sports (n ~6), competing at University level sport or higher. A mixture of analysis will be undertaken including social network analysis, participant as observer behavioural observations, researcher autoethnography, and semi-structured interviews and focus groups with thematic analysis. Implications: Applied applications include: 1. Identification of specific moments within the 5R intervention that provide positive movement towards increased social identity and social identity leadership within the group 2. Identifying observable behaviours as a result of the intervention to add to the body of social identity literature 3. Future practitioners of the 5R program will have an authentic recount of intervention delivery to observe
