Abstract
The paper consists of semi-controlled rectifier circuits having thyristors as controlled switches. The gate pulse provided to these switches is of 15V (DC rectangular signal) at various firing angles. The rectifier circuit is on R load and it was noticed that even at R load the AC supply is supplying Q power towards the load side. Since R load doesn't demand Q power, the Q power is demanded by the controlled switches, at various firing angle. The Q power is directly proportional to the Sine of actual power factor angle. Aspect surmised from this paper is helpful for industries having systems working on controlled rectifiers.
