Abstract
To The Editor - The external oblique intercostal (EOI) plane block represents a novel approach to regional anaesthesia for upper abdominal surgeries that have previously relied upon neuraxial or deep plane block regional techniques or the use of patient controlled opioid analgesia. The EOI plane block is a superficial plane technique that likely has a low risk profile similar to that of the erector spinae plane block (ESPB). To date, there are only four studies describing the technique covering a cohort of 40 patients utilizing either single shot or catheter based techniques.
