Abstract
The latter half of 2019 saw the Queensland economy continue to struggle under lukewarm business confidence, recalcitrant unemployment and the plague of drought and bushfire. Anti‐Adani coal mine sentiment galvanised in Brisbane as dissent blocked streets and the government prepared tough new anti‐protest legislation. While the government climbed aboard the Olympics bandwagon both major parties experienced integrity issues, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk losing significant popular support but with LNP leader Deb Frecklington failing to capitalise.
