The important task for planners is to interlink both the knowledge of the environmental specialist, and the concepts of sustainability, with the decision-making processes concerning development and maintenance of land, of resources and of the social and built environments. There is no doubt that mainstream land use planning and environmental planning must be brought together to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of both.
