Abstract

This paper proposes a new type of generalized droop-based proportional power sharing scheme during load change for parallel inverter-interfaced islanded microgrids, which is an automatic strategy and is independent of any particular nature of transmission lines, i.e., resistive or inductive. Real and reactive powers are shared in proportion to the droop gains by implementing the voltage control law proposed in this paper; in which the inverter-interfaced voltage-sources are kept at equal reference values. The control gains are chosen based on eigenvalue analysis in a way that the system stability is ascertained. The performance of the designed controller is simulated under different microgrid structures such as load variation and various types of transmission lines; in which the results show superior dynamic performance in comparison to the conventional droop-based control strategy.
