Abstract
Echo Hills is a family owned and operated business situated in the Maranoa region in South Western Queensland, Australia. Echo Hills has been in the Thompson family for 75 years as a cropping and cattle operation. Having acquired neighbouring Nugget Hills in 2013, the entire property now spans 80 kms2. The landscape is characterised by a combination of original forest, substantial creeks, shrubby regrowth and rocky outcrops. The country ranges from rolling open paddocks of Buffel Grass to wild rocky gorges with permanent spring-fed waterholes (see Fig. 4.1).
