Abstract

Catherine Driscoll's book, The Australian Country Girl, is an important contribution in rendering visible the figure of ‘the Australian country girl’ who, as she says, has typically been marginalised or forgotten in the national imagination. Drawing on her background in cultural studies, Driscoll contributes to various areas of the discipline including geographies of gender, rurality and culture.
