Abstract

This chapter will outline current guidelines on levels of physical activity for good mental and physical health in the general community and the degree to which people with psychosis meet these criteria. It will then discuss the importance of understanding influencing factors and patient preferences for exercise to increase motivation and uptake of physical activity interventions. The strengths and limitations of available methods for assessing physical activity, their suitability for use in different clinical contexts will then be outlined.
