Abstract
In an interview, Tim Flannery, professor at Macquarie University, and Dexter Dunphy, Emeritus professor in Business at the University of Technology, Sydney, discussed how management practitioners and academics could take up the significant challenge of achieving sustainability and redressing global environmental problems. According to Flannery he has thought a lot about sustainability over the last three years because he's writing a book about sustainability. Ultimately what it means for him intelligent earth. Dunphy said he sits on the Westpac's Community Consultative Council which meets with the Chief Executive and it consists of about 20 people, mainly heads of not-for-profits. He has been on that Council for several years and he looked through his notes to see to what extent this company had taken into account the issues raised. He couldn't find a single significant issue that hadn't been taken up, fed into their strategic planning department and turned into a policy and a set of procedures.
