This preface is non-Buribunkian. The Buribunks are all ‘I’: ego-selves stamping their life into the pages of world history. They are self-curators and memorialisers par excellence. Their life, their thoughts, their hopes and fears are dutifully diarised, published and archived. A life lived as recording. Buribunkdom is not a society but rather a machine of atomistic content producers, a nation of noise-making, text-producing individuals. There is no ‘we’ for the Buribunks.
